What would eventually become Hamilton Air Force Base has its origins in the late 1920s, when the airfield was first established. Thirteen days later Hamilton died in action near Lagnicourt, France. He was head of the Board of Trustees of Southside Hospital, Bayshore, NY, and had been Senior Warden for St. Army as a Major with the 313th Troop Carrier Group in the European Theatre during World War II. He was vice president of Morgan Guaranty Trust, NYC, retiring in 1970, and associated with Cross & Brown, NYC, after his retirement. He was head of the Board of Trustees of the Hewlett School in East Islip, NY. He graduated from Princeton in 1926, and received a Silver Medal as a member of the 1932 U.S. He was born in Pottstown, PA, on June 4, 1905, son of the late Gerard and Mary (Page) Hallock. He was the husband of the late Marion Wharton and Virginia Levick Hallock. Gerard Hallock, 90, of Essex Meadows, Essex, formerly of Greenwich, died Sunday (May 26, 1996).
